The corbel is Finished, too - and for sale, just in case you have a burning need for a single corbel to hang on your wall! It turned out pretty cute, and would work well enough as an "old" corbel! There's a keyhole slot for hanging. I've got this listed for $25.00!
Then, you know that Wedding Season is almost upon us, right??? Are you thinking ahead for gifts? Because if you are, I've got you covered! Well,you're covered if you think this chalkboard serving platter makes as nice a gift as I think it does. I've sold so many of these! It surprises me, really. I like them, and I've seen them in action so I know they are useful, and know that people do like them, but still it surprises me.
Anyway, if you're looking for a nice, functional gift, that is unique, then you might want to consider one of these platters. (I call them Cheese servers, because they look so cute with different cheeses displayed and the names written in chalk so you know what you're eating. These sell for $22. They're about 22" long, 11.5" wide and 1.5" high. The handles will vary depending on what is available. When possible I use salvaged handles. The boards are stained in either a medium or dark brown stain with a chalkboard center. The board is sealed and can be wiped clean with a damp cloth. These have a keyhole slot for hanging when not being used for serving.
And, finally, I finished up this bench and chair set made from salvaged chairs. I loved the original finish of the chairs - but soon discovered that the color I loved was really just dirt embedded in the wood. Sanding revealed very badly deteriorated veneer in some areas of the chair. After cleaning, joining the two arm chairs, sanding, removing old veneer, patching, and painting, these are now worthy of a place on a pretty patio. All they need are some pillows or cushions in a pretty color or pattern to brighten up any spot! The finish is Rustoleum Hammered metal. The set is $75.
I've finished these projects and cleaned my planer. If I could find someone to tune up the rest of my tools I'd be set! I burned up my bench sander combo and will eventually replace that - I used it much more often than I anticipated! But, my next purchase will be a decent paint sprayer - I don't think I want to try to figure out Don's old equipment! Much too sophisticated for me!
