Doll Bed Mania...

Here's a preview of what I've been working on.  What I've learned is that as cute as these are, they are hard work!  As much work as a large project.  I think I'm ready to make another one of these for Keiry now!
I picked up the lumber this afternoon.  Tomorrow I start putting it together.  Hopefully, by the end of the day I'll have the bulk of it finished.  Drawers and finish trim can be done in the evenings and maybe by next weekend Keiry and her sister can be finishing this cabinet for their bedroom.  It's going to give her sister 2 feet more of storage space and add balance the other side of their bed!

Another quick visit to Keiry's in the morning just to make sure I know what I need to do to replicate this cabinet (oh, for a memory...) and I'll be ready to go!

Oh, I guess I'll need to move those doll beds out somewhere...

I Know When to Cry Uncle!

I took my brand new, pretty band saw back to Home Depot!

I tried it.  The blade kept coming off the wheels.  The sound when it did was awful - like a gun shot!

I'm not stupid.  I packed it up and took it back.  The clerk asked if anything was wrong with it and I told her truthfully that something was probably wrong with the operator.  I think the saw worked, but I just didn't know how to work it!  Rather than risk life and limb, I cried uncle!

I learned from my woodworking instructor that the people who make these cute little band saw boxes have very expensive band saws.  Even more expensive than the one they have in the wood shop at school!  He's doubtful that I can make the boxes on their saw.  I'm considering, now, if I will even attempt it.  I've seen lots of these boxes made, so I know people can do them.  What I don't know, however, is how many of those people have lost fingers in the process!  I'm proud to have all my fingers, and I think I'll try to keep it that way - I might learn to turn pens instead!  (Don't worry, if I do I'll share that with  you.  It does look like a fun project!)
